I bought this about a month ago to replace my Creative Labs iTrigue 3400 2.1 PC speakers. The difference is quite amazing.
Pros:
Great lows and highs, able to hear a lot that you normally won't hear on lesser speakers
Not very expensive 2.1 set
Can get LOUD without distorting at high levels
Simple set up, wired remote has a headphone and auxilary jack
Look awesome
Cons:
When left on and NOT playing there is a static hiss. Simply turn off the speakers and it goes away though (nothing too big there)
The cables attaching the satellites to the sub are slightly short and cannot be replaced to my knowledge
Wired remote takes a little getting used to (a non-conventional knob)
Mid range could be better
All in all though a solid deal for the price paid for these speakers. J&R (whom sells the speakers through Amazon) shipped quickly and product arrived in perfect condition. Keep in mind that these are digital music playing speakers, and that for the most part people listen to music that ends up compressed anyways. If you're looking for SUPERIOR sound quality invest in a receiver and buy speakers for that, and more importantly either buy CD's / vinyl or rip CD's in 320 Kbps MP3 format or .FLAC and buy a new sound card. But for the money these have exceeded my expectations
A few Pro's and a few Cons July 8, 2010

On the Pro side, this unit is a breeze to set up. Everything is marked so you have no confusion as to where each cable plugs into the sub-woofer/amplifier unit.
The highs are crystal clear...the mids are good but have a tendency to distort at high volume levels...the lows are really deep and controlled.
The Cons: The Satellite speakers are a good 6 inches in length and roughly 3 inches diameter along with an 8 inch tall quadrangle shaped front with the horn tweeter at the top * an unusual looking speaker to say the least*. The controller itself needs to be placed on a very clean surface or it will slip and slide around. Another Con is that there are no Mid-Point detents for the Highs and Lows.
I would recommend this to anyone seeking a mid-priced mid sized 2.1 sound system.

These speakers work well for me. A good buy. I was put off these initially because of the various comments about hiss. Turned out to not be an issue (for me anyway).
Proprietary cables - yes they are, but I extended my cable length by just buying a couple of S-Video (male/female) extension cables. Sorted.
